Expert Neonatal Care: A Gentle Start for Your Newborn

The first moments of a baby’s life are the most critical. At Dr. Shernaz’s clinic, our Neonatal Care services are dedicated to providing specialized medical attention to newborns, ensuring a seamless transition from the womb to the world. Whether your baby requires routine postnatal screening or specialized observation, Dr. Shernaz combines advanced medical technology with a gentle, family-centered approach. We are committed to protecting the health of your little one during their most vulnerable stage.

Comprehensive Postnatal Wellness & Screening

Every newborn at our facility undergoes a thorough clinical evaluation to ensure a healthy start. This includes vital sign monitoring, physical examinations, and essential screenings for metabolic and hearing health. Dr. Shernaz provides expert guidance on early nutrition, breastfeeding support, and skin-to-skin bonding. Our goal is to empower parents with the knowledge and confidence they need to care for their baby the moment they head home.

Specialized Support for Tiny Miracles

Some newborns require an extra level of vigilance. We provide specialized care for babies born with minor complications, such as neonatal jaundice (phototherapy), low birth weight, or respiratory transitions. Dr. Shernaz monitors these conditions with meticulous detail, utilizing modern diagnostic tools to ensure your baby hits every developmental milestone. We prioritize clear communication with parents, ensuring you are an active part of your baby’s recovery and growth.

Your Questions Answered

Neonatal care specifically focuses on the "neonate"—a newborn in the first 28 days of life. This period requires specialized expertise in transitions from fetal life to independent breathing and feeding, whereas pediatrics covers health from infancy through adolescence.

Newborns are born with low levels of Vitamin K, which is essential for blood clotting. Dr. Shernaz administers a safe, routine Vitamin K dose to prevent rare but serious bleeding complications, ensuring your baby’s safety from day one.

Jaundice is common in newborns due to an immature liver. We monitor bilirubin levels closely; if they are elevated, we use non-invasive phototherapy (light therapy) to help the baby's body break down the bilirubin safely and quickly.

Generally, a follow-up visit is recommended within 3 to 5 days of birth. This allows Dr. Shernaz to check the baby’s weight, feeding progress, and overall wellness during the critical first week at home.
